Hosting on AWS in London is part of every Orbit plan, with a free Let's Encrypt certificate on every domain you connect and no charge for traffic. Bring a domain you own, or buy one in the dashboard and it connects itself. There is no server to patch or size.
Add a domain you already own in Settings, point it at Orbit with a single record, and the certificate and the https redirect are done for you. Add the optional www record and that address is covered too.

Type the domain without http or www. Orbit lists the one record it needs: a CNAME for a subdomain such as shop.example.com, or an A record for the bare domain, with the www version as an optional extra so shoppers who type it still land on you.

Press Verify DNS configuration and each record shows its current value next to the required one. Or leave it: every domain still waiting is checked again every ten minutes and goes live on its own once the records are right.
A free certificate
Once the domain points at us, a Let's Encrypt certificate is issued by our edge the first time a visitor arrives over HTTPS, and http:// requests are sent to https://. The www version gets a certificate of its own and redirects to the address you registered.
Ten domains, one front door
Connect up to ten custom domains. The first to go live becomes your main address, Set as primary changes it later, and your free .myorbitcommerce.net address keeps working as a fallback whatever happens to your DNS.
Search from the Domains page, pay in your billing currency, and the domain is added to your store with its records written for you.
From .co.uk to .shop
.co.uk, .uk, .com, .net, .org, .shop, .store, .io, .app, .dev and .eu, with the yearly price beside every name that is available. If the registrar cannot be reached, a name says Couldn't check rather than Taken.
Connected for you
A domain bought here is added to your custom domains and its DNS records are written into its own zone, so there is nothing to copy across. DNS and the certificate finish in the background, usually within minutes.
Registered to you
You give a registrant contact once, and the domain is registered to you or your company, not to Orbit. WHOIS privacy is a switch with its own yearly price.
Renewed unless you say otherwise
Auto-renew is on by default and charged to your saved payment method up to 30 days before expiry. Switch it off in a click, or renew by hand for one to ten years.

Certificates

Publish a page, change a menu or save a product and the cached copy of your storefront is replaced straight away, so shoppers see the change without you clearing anything.

Every photo is saved in seven WebP sizes and served from Amazon CloudFront. Replace an image and the cached copy is purged for you.
Old links redirected
Rename a product, category, page or post and the old address redirects to the new one. Moving from another platform? Import your old addresses as a list.

London, on AWS.
Your storefront, dashboard and database run in the AWS London region (eu-west-2). Files are served from Amazon CloudFront. Pages are rendered on the server and cached, and the cache is refreshed when you publish. Ireland appears on our sub-processor list for some AWS services, and a public status page shows what is happening now.
Bare domains and subdomains both work. Each needs one pointing record, the www version is optional, and the first domain to go live becomes your main address. The same page lists the DKIM records that let your order emails go out from your domain.
