Loyalty points

Turn this order
into the next one.

Loyalty points give every signed-in customer something back on each order they pay for at checkout, and let them spend the balance on products you choose. Set the rate, pick the rewards, and the rest runs on its own: points land when the order is paid and come back off if it is cancelled or refunded in full.

Two ways to earn

Automatic points at checkout

From the earning rule you set

Loyalty page in every account
  • Rewards are products you choose
  • Points land as customers pay at checkout
  • Full refunds take the points back
  • Balances kept if you switch off

Rewards from your catalogue

Redeemed as a £0 order you fulfil

For your customer

A balance they can see, and spend.

Loyalty sits in the customer’s account, next to their orders and addresses. It shows their balance in your brand colour, how they earn, every movement on the account, and the products they can trade their points for.

Their balance, your colour

The account page shows the balance in the accent colour you set, with the points earned all-time and the points redeemed under it. Call the points whatever you like: Points, Stars, Coins.

The rule, in one line

Under the balance the page says exactly how points are earned, for example Earn 2 Points per £1 spent, so nobody has to guess.

Every movement listed

Points history shows each earn, redemption, reversal and adjustment with its date, the amount and the balance after it, ten to a page.

Redeem in two taps

Rewards show as product cards with their points price. Redeem, confirm, and a £0 order is placed to their default delivery address. A reward they cannot afford yet says so.

Balances you can adjust by hand

Add or deduct points, with a note

For you

Everything you set, on one page.

Loyalty Points appears in your sidebar under Installed plugins. Its page holds four cards: Earning, Branding, Rewards and Customers. That is the whole loyalty programme: turn it on or off, choose how points are earned, name and colour them, add rewards and look up any balance.

Two ways to earn

Points per amount spent (2 per £1, say, on the order subtotal before delivery) or a fixed number per order, whichever suits you. A new rule applies to orders from then on.

Rewards are products

Search your catalogue, give the product a points price, add it. A switch hides a reward without losing its price, and removing one never touches a balance.

Every balance in one table

Customer, email, balance, lifetime earned and lifetime redeemed, searchable by name or email, ten to a page.

Adjust by hand

Add or deduct points on anyone in the Customers table, with a note, as a goodwill gesture or a correction. A deduction that would take the balance below zero is refused.

Runs without you

Six things you never do by hand.

Once the programme is on, the ledger looks after itself.

Points on payment

The moment a checkout payment succeeds, the points are worked out from the rule you set and added to the customer’s balance. Nothing to approve.

Reversed on refund

Cancel an order, or refund it in full, and the points it earned come back off. If some are already spent, the balance stops at zero. A partial refund leaves the points alone.

Reward orders refunded in points

Cancel a £0 reward order and the points spent on it go straight back to the customer.

Never counted twice

A payment notice that arrives twice cannot award the same order twice. The ledger checks for an existing entry before it writes one.

Stock reserved

A redemption reserves the product like any paid order. If it is out of stock the redemption fails and no points move.

Off means off

Switch the programme off and earning, the rewards and the account page stop together. Every balance is kept, so switching back on picks up where it left off.

The settings

Every option, named as the dashboard names it.

What the Loyalty Points page lets you set, what the ledger records, and where it all shows.

The £0 order

A redemption is an order like any other.

It takes the next order number, the customer’s default delivery address, Paid and Processing status, a note naming the reward and the points spent, and a timeline entry. You fulfil it from Orders as usual. Delivery on it is £0, so allow for postage when you price a reward in points.

  • Next order number
  • Default delivery address
  • Arrives paid, ready to fulfil
  • Note with points spent
  • Timeline entry
  • Fulfil as normal

Earning

Two modes, decimals allowed.

Points per amount spent takes a rate with up to two decimal places (0.5 per £1 works) and applies it to the order subtotal, rounded down to whole points. Fixed points per order takes a whole number. Either can be anything from 0 to 1,000,000.

  • Points per amount spent
  • Fixed points per order
  • Rate to 2 decimals
  • Rounded down
  • Order subtotal
  • 0 to 1,000,000

Branding

A name and a colour.

The points name (up to 60 characters) and a hex accent colour appear on the customer’s account page and in the Loyalty Points element. The default is Points in amber. The page builder element can override the colour on any page.

  • Points name, 60 characters
  • Hex colour
  • Default #F59E0B
  • Element override

Rewards

Any product, any points price.

One row per product with a whole-number points price from 1 upwards. A reward pointing at a draft or archived product is never shown to customers, even while it is switched on.

  • One row per product
  • Points price from 1
  • Hide without deleting
  • Drafts never shown

The ledger

Five kinds of movement.

Earn, redeem, revoke, refund and adjust, each with the signed points, the balance after it and the order it came from. Rows are only ever added, never edited or deleted.

  • Earned
  • Spent
  • Taken back
  • Given back
  • Adjusted
  • Balance after each row

On the storefront

Three places in the account.

The Loyalty page in the account area, whose menu entry appears only when the plugin is installed; the Loyalty Points element for any account page in the page builder; and a Loyalty points figure on the Account Stats Card.

  • Account · Loyalty
  • Loyalty Points element
  • Account Stats Card
  • Menu entry only when installed

The API

Four scopes, one per job.

Read the settings and rewards, read balances, configure the programme, or adjust a customer’s points, each behind its own scope on the public API, so a connection that reads the rate cannot see your customer list.

What you need

Three things before the first point lands.

Set-up takes minutes. These are the pieces the programme runs on.

The add-on

Install Loyalty Points

Find it in the Plugin Store from your dashboard. Installing starts a free trial with no card. To keep it after that, press Subscribe on the loyalty page: it takes a card and a billing address, saved once under Settings, Billing, and the add-on is billed on top of your plan from then on.

The rewards

Pick products and price them in points

Points buy the products you pick, so choose a few items that make a good thank you and give each one a points price. Reward orders go out with free delivery, so allow for postage in the points price.

Customer accounts

Customers sign in to earn

Points belong to a customer account: signed-in customers earn on the orders they pay for at checkout, and redeem once they have a delivery address saved. It is worth asking customers to sign in before they pay.

Never expire

Points stay with the customer

A balance carries no expiry date, and it is kept even while the programme is switched off.

Your products

The rewards points buy

Each redemption places a £0 order for one reward product, which you fulfil as usual.

Nothing to build

The account page comes with it

Installing adds the Loyalty page and its menu entry to your customers’ accounts, with the balance in your accent colour.

An add-on for any plan

Points start landing at the next checkout.

Install Loyalty Points, set the rate, pick a few rewards. From then on every order a signed-in customer pays for at checkout earns points, and a cancellation or full refund takes them back. The add-on’s trial runs alongside Orbit’s, and neither asks for a card.
